Before your visit

During your consultation

Mr Henderson welcomes consultations about persistent macular holes, complex retinal detachment and problems requiring secondary lens surgery. He will review your previous treatment, assess your eye and discuss the options relevant to your circumstances.
His specialist interests include amniotic membrane grafting for persistent macular holes.

Mr Robert Henderson cares for adults and children with retinal conditions, cataracts and complex lens problems. He is a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital, and Honorary Associate Professor at UCL.
Your consultation is a chance to explain what is troubling you, ask questions and understand the choices available. Mr Henderson will discuss the potential benefits and risks of treatment, how recovery may affect your daily life, and whether monitoring is a sensible alternative.
His training includes specialist fellowships in London, Toronto and Melbourne. He founded the vitreoretinal unit at GOSH and leads its RPE65 retinal gene therapy surgery programme. His experience also includes complex adult retinal surgery and further surgery after previous treatment.
You do not need a rare or complex condition to seek his advice. Patients with common retinal problems and cataracts are welcome, as are those seeking a second opinion.

Referrals and second opinions
Referrals from optometrists, GPs and ophthalmologists are welcome for adult retinal disease, cataract and lens complications, paediatric retinal conditions and inherited retinal disease.
